I have decided to pick up Gintama!
-cheer-
Anyway, yeah, I've decided to follow Gintama, the anime. Not the manga... Or at least, not yet. Maybe I'll follow on the manga, too, when I find the time.
SO yeah. First 20 episodes were apparently subbed by Shinsen-Subs, and then 21 - current are being subbed by Rumbel-Subs. So I'll be giving updates as to when the next episodes come out and shit like that.
So I'm still not up to date with the anime. 70 subbed episodes have already been released, but I'm still watching episode 20. I downloaded the episodes from Anime-Eden and Reality Lapse, so for anyone who wants to download the series, feel free to go there. The sites require you to have a registered account, but of course, it's for free. I wouldn't advertise their site, otherwise.
Anime Eden has up to the 50th episode, I think. Downloads are usually 170-200MB in size, .avi type. Reality Lapse has up to the 70th, usually 70-80 MB in size, in .rmvb type. But they do provide .avi types from episode 43 up.
Anyway, for the manga, Reality Lapse also has some of the scanlated chapters, but not all. They have chapter 1-49, then jumps to the 90s.. I don't know why they don't have the others, but.. XD
I'm still waiting for anime-eden, because I'm pretty sure that they have most, if not all, of the chapters available. However, they are in midst of revamping their site, so they still don't have the manga section up. We'll just have to wait patiently; I can't really go looking for the scanlators because I don't know which group is doing Gintama.
Anyway, Gintama's been really great. From the few 20 episodes I've seen, I can really tell that it's not for kids (gee, I wonder what gave me that idea.. -rolls eyes-), and it's not really something serious people would enjoy. This series warrants a sense of humor from its audience; if you don't have one, you'd really find the inuendos hard to get.
----> pauses for a moment. I hope I got inuendo right. Or was the innuendo..? Inuenndo? No, wait, that's wrong.. Uh.. -scratches head- Ah, wth. I can't be bothered to look it up right now.
So, right. About Gintama. Before I came to watch it, I pronounced it the way a westerner would (the G pronounced as "gee", like in Jesus). But of course, it's pronounced as "gih", as in give. So it's Gihn-ta-ma, you dorks. Not Geen-ta-ma. Oh, wth. I don't really care how it's pronounced. It's a damn good anime!
----> pauses to get some strawberry milk
Aaah, the strawberry milk love! Gin-san is such a cool, kid-like adult. Or is he really an adult? He's still in his early 20s, isn't he? XD He doesn't look any older that 25... Or I mean, he's not supposed to look any older than 25, huh? Well, whatever his age may be, he's still a very amusing character. He has diabetes for crying out loud! And look at how much sweets he intakes! ---> points at episode 19
And I saw some weird pictures as I was surfing. I have no doubts that this is Gin-san... but from what episode was this taken? I want to know! I want to skip to that episode already!
----> Fangirls at the sight of Gin-san in drag
Aaaahhhn, Gin-san! What Am I going to do with you? XD
But I really shouldn't be getting addicted to any more anime! I'm already being buried up to my neck as it is! I can barely keep up with Naruto Shippuden, and who knows when I'll ever be up to date with Bleach (the last I saw was the episode where Kariya died.. right, still Bound arc.. die, gale die... ), yet here I am, taking on another anime ---- which I might add, is already 100 something episodes along..
-----> hides under a rock
And I haven't been updating my yaoi stash. Now I'm experiencing withdrawal. -curls up and dies-
Well, Gintama isn't really 100 something episodes long.. I mean, the subbed ones are only up to the 70th, as I've already mentioned.. But then again, there's Reborn, which is currently at its 96th.. And I've only got up to the 94th.. AAACK! Hopeless!
Maybe I should just drop the Reborn anime and stick to the manga..?
And I've been having problems with my internet connection. -sigh- I wonder when it'll ever be smooth sailing for me, as far as my internet addcition goes...
Aaaah, Gin-san! You're so cool~
-laughs-
I just noticed, though, that I've changed my taste in anime again. Or maybe the right term should be "gone back". When I was a bit younger (about ten years younger, in fact), my type of anime was the really shoujo type, complete with sparkles and smiles and shiny shimmering things (Sailor Moon!). Of course, I grew tired of that after a while, and I got addicted instead with the meccha type (Gundam Wing! Zoids! some more Gundam! some more Zoids!). After going meccha, I went for the game types (Bey Blade! Crush Gear! Yugioh! some more Bey Blade! some more Crush Gear! some more Yugioh!), and after purchasing all there was to purchase, I went to the Samurai/Shinsengumi types (Peacemaker Kurogane, repeated Samurai X), then sports type (Slam Dunk! Prince of Tennis! some more Prince of Tennis! and some more Prince of Tennis! and some mo- you get the idea..)Of course, I had trysts with other types in between, but these trysts were mostly with the cracktastic ones (Yakitate! Japan and Law of Ueki among others).. And well, yeah. You get the point.
Ok, the point wasn't really clear. THE POINT IS, I really don't got for the serious types much, Deathnote being one of the few exceptions. I usually go for the non-serious, cracktastic, full-of-action Shounen types, but just before delving into KHR and Gintama, I was immersing myself in shows like Blood+ and Yugo.
YES, BLOOD+ and YUGO, ftw.
XD
I really can't imagine what had gotten into me when I dug into those fandoms. I don't even know why, not anymore. I don't remember. I hate shows that make you feel that heavy feeling, that trepidation, that angst. It's annoying, especially when the thing you're angsting about is why the guy just won't like the girl, or why the main character just won't get the hell over her stupid inhibitions and just fucking kill that fucking monster already, god.
-----> takes a deep breath and stops ranting
Okay, that went a little overboard. Anyway, the point is that I usually don't revert back to a type I've been before. Gundam Seed was good, I guess, but I didn't go back the meccha category just for it. The same happened for Code Geass. I guess Bleach can fall in the same category as Samurai (just because of the Zanpakuto? I don't know..), but I started the series long ago, and just because I've departed from the category doesn't mean I will not finish a series that I've already started watching..
I don't know why the heck I'm watching Gintama, if not for the comic relief it gives to me. So maybe that's just it, I really just been looking for comic relief, and I've found just the series to quell my thirst. XD
But what about Reborn?
Hell, I watch Reborn because Reborn torturing Tsuna gives me sadistic [orgasmic] pleasure. XD

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have gone completely crazy.
